The California Supreme Court accepted review in Harris v. Superior court (discussed
here). The Court may be doing this to clarify the extent to which California will follow federal guidance regarding exemptions from overtime. In the Harris case, the court took a narrow view of the "administrative" exemption, and expounded on who is a "production" employee (not entitled to the exemption). Stay tuned to this space (for a couple of years) and we'll find out.
